This week the Falcons played the Red Beach Comets in an exciting but challenging match. At half-time, the Falcons had left themselves with a lot of work to do but in the second half, they played brilliantly. With tight marking and fast passing, they were soon back on scoring form and Red Beach found it difficult to match their pace.  Nevertheless, the Comets just managed to hold onto their lead until the final whistle. Blake Fortzer-Bezar was named Player of the Day for excellent positioning but the whole team deserves praise for their gritty determination in the second half of the match.

Flippaball Results - 8th December 2014

Wentworth Warriors
The Wentworth Warriors played the Grand Final game of the season. The first half was an exciting and nail biting 1v1 score, however lapses in concentration, and tiredness saw a well-deserved opposition eventually take it away with a 7v2  win. Wentworth Wizards

The Wentworth Wizards unfortunately lost their first game 7v2 but played a second game to reach 4th place this term. The Wizards struggled in the first half and the tension was high with a 3v3 score, but they found their form in the second half with strong defence and the strikers landing some great shots at goal. Miniball Results - 24th November 2014

The Rockets just get better week after week! Their team spirit and cooperation are a pleasure to watch and, when you consider that this is such a young team, their ability to compete in a Y3/4 league is a credit to them. Yet again, the Rockets played their hearts out and their developing skills and game strategies were evident on court for all to see. However, it was the Titans who emerged the winners after a tough on-court battle and Emily McLeish was named Player of the Day for her improved attacking. (C Santo)

Miniball Results - 17th November

The Rockets had two matches back-to-back this week against two tough opponents. The first game was against Stanmore Bay Warriors and it was a real battle between the teams. This served as a warm-up in readiness for the second match against Red Beach Jets, who found the Rockets raring to go. Yet another mighty battle ensued on-court and it was a shame that the score did not reflect the excitement of the game. Although the Rockets did not win either match this week, the teamwork and effort they displayed was superb. Players of the Day were Joshua Hill for his determination and powerful play throughout both matches and Charlotte Sancto-Jones, who was back on fighting-fit form and scored for the Rockets.

Basketball Results - 17th November 2014

The Falcons swooped to victory yet again this week, with an amazing score of 17:4 against SGH Sting. Defence was tight, allowing the opposition little room to manoeuvre and our players positioned themselves under the hoop so that they were ready to gain possession of any rebounds. However, it was the swift attacking that was the key to the Falcons’ success. With incredible speed, the team passed the ball from player to player, creating space and allowing time for each other to shoot and score. The Player of the Day was Brodie Cruse for controlled and generous passing to other team members.

The Rockets faced Red Beach Supernova for the second time this term and, again, found it a tough challenge. Although the Rockets made a number of successful interceptions and had some fast breaks, particularly in the second half of the match, they just couldn’t get the ball into the net to score. Nevertheless, the Rockets continue to make progress in their team skills and strategies. Player of the Day was Bridie Smith for her energetic play and good positioning on court. (C Sancto)

Flippaball Results - 10th November 2014

The Wentworth Warriors were taught a lesson on how to defend. Unfortunately our defence lacked urgency when competing for the ball and ended up chasing the ball and not marking. These are areas that we can work on at training. The Warriors lost 9v2. Player of the Day was Matthew Brabant for accurate goal shooting. (C Donovan)

Wentworth Wizards
The Wentworth Wizards lost 7v4 in a tough game. The Wizards were caught off guard at the start of the match, but fought back in the second half with coordinated attacks and improved defence. Player of the Day was Brodie for great saves in goal. (R Sang)

Basketball Results - 29th September 2014

Another tough game for the Falcons on Tuesday, against the NHFM Cobras, who had previously beaten them. However, the Falcons have been playing a lot of tough teams recently and proving that they are a force to be reckoned with – and this week was no exception. Throughout the first half, they matched the Cobras in speed, passing and scoring and completely undermined their defence. In the second half of the game, the Cobras managed to regroup and gain control of the score, finishing as the winners. Nevertheless, a superb effort by the Falcons with Blake Fortzer-Bezar named as Player of the Day for all-round excellence.

They came close to scoring on a number of occasions but just couldn’t quite find the back of the net. The second half of the game was tough for our team as they were outnumbered by the Jets’ attack and the score finished 6:0. Nevertheless, it was an outstanding effort by all five players – well done, Seahorses! Bridie Smith was named Player of the Day for her excellent work, stepping in as goalkeeper for the entire game.

The skill level of the team keeps improving with faster passing and better communication. Player of the Day was Beau Walbran for consistent pressure in defence and tight marking.
The Warriors
The Warriors played hard but were undone by a much stronger team. Our defence was busy and started to tire and our attack was limited with good marking and goal keeping from the opposition. The Warriors started to come back late in the second half, but by then it was too late, the final score was 9v3. Player of the Day was Brodie Cruse for solid defence and positional play.

Netball Results - 8th September 2014

Netball Results - 1st September 2014

Wentworth was up against an experienced Y6 team this week and found the challenge tough. There were a number of excellent players on the opposing side who caused problems for our players. Following a change of positions at half time, Wentworth began to get into the match and resumed some of their usual fast flowing game, although they had left themselves too much to do and the final result was in Stanmore Bay’s favour. Player of the Day was Oliver Willis, for his energy and speed in marking and intercepting.

Flippaball Results - 1st September 2014

Netball Results - 25th August 2014

Netball
The netball squad just keeps on getting better. The opponents this week were the Kingsway Reds who, although they played well, could not match the Wentworth team in agility, passing or shooting. When watching our team play, it is difficult to believe that at the start of this season, they were newcomers to the sport, as they move the ball around the court with speed and accuracy. The final score was a well-deserved 9:0 to Wentworth and the Player of the Day was Jon Sancto-Jones, who was pivotal in defence, letting nothing past him. (C Sancto)

Flippa Ball Results - 25th August 2014

Flippa Ball
The Seahorses were up against the Storms this week. They focused on their positional play and passing, making it difficult for the Storms to play their usual strong game. There were some good tussles for the ball, with the Seahorses becoming more confident in tackling players. Although the Storms emerged the winners, it was encouraging to see how much progress the Seahorses have made in their understanding of the sport. Player of the Day was Bridie Smith for her determined attacking, including scoring! A special mention must also go to Maddie Rist who played as strongly as ever and also added to the goal tally. (C Sancto)

The Wizards played 2 games and disappointingly lost both losing 2v5 and 3v5. Both matches had Wizards keeping up with solid mid fielding throughout but unfortunately there  were gaps in our defence, and not enough shots at goal reaching the back of the oppositions net. Player of the day was Jon Sancto-Jones for excellent pressure applied at strike to the oppositions defence. (R  Sang).

The Warriors had a tough game, the defence was strong and solid, however a number of shots at gaol were unsuccessful which resulted in a 4v1 loss. Player of the Day was Aidan Beall with great midfield and attack play. ( C Donovan)
