NETBALL - YEARS 5 & 6 WENTWORTH STARS - 20 MAY 2019

The Stars had a great game this week, winning 13-8 over Kingsway Sapphires.  The players are really starting to find their feet in their positions and this is paying off in ball possession and ultimately in opportunities at goal.  There was significant improvement in slowing down as we got the ball into the circle to shoot.  Excellent teamwork was displayed during the centre third as well as tenacity in defence.  Player of the Day went to Ella Nathan.

FLIPPA BALL - YEARS 5 & 6 WARRIORS - 20 MAY 2019

This was easily the best game that the Warriors have played this Term. They were absolutely clinical and dominated the game from the start. Their challenge for this game was to play a high speed, high intensity game. The Warriors won 18-1 and Player of the Day was Amy for her outstanding defence and assisting with setting up a number of goals.

FLIPPA BALL - YEARS 3 & 4 MARLINS - 20 MAY 2019

he Marlins looked like they were going to have their first loss of the season. The score at the end of the first half was 3-1 against the Marlins. The second half saw a turnaround with our strikers becoming more accurate with their throwing. The defenders worked hard all game in trying to stem the goal shooting from the opposition. The final score was another draw at 6-6.  Players of the Day were Daniel, for his solid defensive work, and Sam, for his high work rate and looking to create shooting opportunities.

NETBALL - YEARS 5 - 6, WENTWORTH STARS - 13TH MAY 2019

The Wentworth Stars put up a good fight against the Kingsway Diamonds this week.  After struggling for possession in the first half, the team pulled together to work hard to claw back the lost points.  The next 3 quarters improved significantly with far more opportunities at goal, lots of intercepts down the court and strong defence in the circle. The final score was Kingsway Diamonds 17, Wentworth Stars 10.  Player of the Day went to Poppy Hickmer.

BASKETBALL - YEARS 5 - 6, THE ROCKETS - 13TH MAY 2019

The Rockets reigned supreme in their first game of Term 2, winning 18-4 against the Red Beach storms. Goals were scored by Eli, Olliver and Ethan and a great defence was played by Kerry, Steven and Harper. James unfortunately had to stand down with a broken toe. The whole team played so well and were a credit to themselves. Eli and Ethan took a nasty spill after they collided but they got up and got going like the Rockets they are! Player of the Day was Eli for a stunning game, fantastic goals but also his great ambition suggesting to the team they should aim for a score of 20 at half time. Go Wentworth Rockets - a fantastic start!

Trainings are at Friday lunchtimes in the College Gym.  Please bring your PE kit and shoes.

FLIPPA BALL - YEARS 5 - 6, WARRIORS - 13TH MAY 2019

The goal of this game was to move the ball quickly into the opposition's quarter and then score points. The Warriors did exactly that. They were able to pass the ball efficiently and with speed and score points. The final score was 11-1 to the Warriors. Player of the Day was Eli for great communication and always looking for space to pass the ball. Well done.

FLIPPA BALL - YEARS 3 - 4, MARLINS - 13TH MAY 2019

The Marlins had another hard game with many players still learning their positions and the role of each of the positions. We were going to use the game as a way to focus on certain skills and try not to let the scoreboard run too far away from us, however the players had a different idea. They came to win! The final score was a fantastic 7-7 draw, our second draw in two games. Players of the Day were Norah for outstanding goal keeping and Alex for maintaining the mid-position and playing a great defensive and attacking game.

The Wentworth Stars had a fantastic first game of the season, winning 11-3 over the Whangaparaoa Dolphins.  The Stars played well as a team to move the ball down the court, backed by a great effort in the shooting circle.  Well deserved Player of the Day went to Brooke Oliver.

FLIPPA BALL - YEARS 5 -6, WARRIORS - 6TH MAY 2019

As expected the Warriors were a bit rusty for their first game of the season although they still managed to score 17 unanswered points, nearly a point a minute. We ended up having 4 strikers and 2 defenders. Player of the Day was Ben Rist for organising the players while on strike.  Well done.

FLIPPA BALL - YEARS 3 - 4, MARLINS - 6TH MAY 2019

The Marlins recently played their first game of the season. This team have only three members who have played before so it was pretty much a new team, with new players. It was a very exciting game with the lead changing on a number of occasions. The end result was a 6v6 draw. Players of the Day were Anna Langridge for her massive work ethic and for supporting her team mates, and Chloe Chisholm for great work in defence and also in strike. Well done to both players.

BASKETBALL - ASTEROIDS - 30TH APRIL 2019

The WW Asteroids had their final game on their last night in Term 1 against the Whanga Thunder.  It was another tough game in the top group for the team. They fought hard and played well as a team, passing to each other and moving the ball down the court.

BASKETBALL - ASTEROIDS - 8TH APRIL 2019

On April 2nd, the Wentworth Asteroids played the Swish. The Swish are a talented team who won their group last year.
We were 3 players short and had no choice but to ask another team if we could borrow 2 players. As luck would have it, we got 2 of the best players in the league!!
The game started with a bang and it was a thriller of a game!  At half time the score was 10-10 and both teams were giving it their all!
The Swish pulled out all the stops in the 2nd half and the final score was 12-23 to them.
Player of the Day was Brooke Oliver for good rebounding, consistent defence and carrying the ball down the court.
Well done Asteroids!
