BASKETBALL - COMETS - 13 MARCH 2017

Our Comets team are going from strength to strength each week.  With a draw for their first game and two subsequent wins, they are proving to be a real threat in this competition.  A special mention goes to Josh Hill for committing himself fully on attack resulting in a nasty fall.  A very brave effort Josh!  Player of the Day was Rory Brabant.  Excellent work rushing the ball on defence Rory, and great positioning on attack.  You ran your heart out!  Great work.  See you all at Sunday morning training.

MINBALL - ASTEROIDS - 13 MARCH 2017

Our newly formed girls team are continuing to show significant improvement with every game!  Whilst the scoreboard flattered the opposition, the girls were tenacious, accurate in their passing and dogged in defence.  Great effort by the entire team this week girls.  Congratulations on working hard to play together as a team.  Our Player of the Day went to BethanySmith for excellent positioning on court, fierce defence and a fabulous goal!  Keep it up Bethany!

MINIBALL - ROCKETS - 13 MARCH 2017

After last week’s ripper game, the Wentworth Rockets found it a bit harder this week to keep up the amazing stunt shots, suffering a 9-4 loss.
Everyone on the team put in a great effort however, and every face was glowing at the end of the match. It is great to see how confident our players are becoming in taking possession of the ball. Player of the day this week was Xavier Melhop, for his super-fast footwork and his amazing ability to move quickly to whichever area of the court he was needed on. Well done, Xavier!

BASKETBALL - COMETS - 6 MARCH 2017

This week was a thrilling, nail biting match for the Comets. Some of the parents will have lost their voices!  It looked as though both teams were going to struggle to score, however the Comets pulled out some fantastic tricks (and some amazing teamwork) to win 7-4 at full time. It was great to see how the Comets all pulled together and it was a real treat to see some fantastic passing that resulted in goals. Our Player of the Day this week was Josh Hill. Well done, Josh!

MINIBALL- ASTEROIDS - 6 MARCH 2017

It was a tough day on court for our newly formed Asteroids team.  All agreed that it was a much improved performance which fills us with excitement and anticipation for the season ahead.  Kingsway were a slick opposition and certainly gave us all some food for thought in terms of what we need to do on court next week. Our Player of the Day was Annabelle Duncan for finding excellent positioning on defence and attack, for her great listening skills, and for making herself available to intercept rebounds.  Great work Annabelle!

MINIBALL - ROCKETS - 6 MARCH 2017

It was great to see how well the Rockets played together this week- what super teamwork!  Amy was a super shooter, and everyone in the team made a huge effort to keep the pressure on, resulting in an impressive win of 8-1.  Player of the day this week was Daniel Chen who displayed amazing defence skills. Well done, Daniel!

BASKETBALL - COMETS - 27 FEBRUARY 2017

Wentworth Comets
Congratulations on an exciting start to the 2017 basketball season, Wentworth Comets.  This tight grading match finished with a draw!  Player of the Day went to Austin McAlpine for being everywhere he needed to be for the whole game.
Training for this team will be held in the school gym on Sunday morning at 9am. Thank you to Mr Hill for his support and the significant time he dedicates to our Comets.  This is shaping up to be a fabulous and nail-biting season!

MINIBALL - ASTEROIDS - 27 FEBRUARY 2017

It was a tough grading game for our newly formed Wentworth Asteroids team.  Currently this is the first ever Wentworth girls mini-ball team.  Even though our Asteroids faced a significant loss they certainly showed some exciting potential.  With more time together they are sure to show their skills and flair.  Charlotte Sancto-Jones received Player of the Day for her tenacious defence.  Despite being hurt, Charlotte played on and showed steely determination.  Well done Charlotte!  The purpose of the formation of this team is based on the knowledge that many of these girls will leave mini-ball in Terms 2 and 3 to play netball.  Those who continue during these terms will make an easy transition into the Wentworth Comets team.

MINIBALL - ROCKETS - 27 FEBRUARY 2017

The Wentworth Rockets had a tight start to this year's miniball season. They were very well matched with the Whanga Warriors, and although the game looked as though it would be a draw, we were pipped at the post and the Rockets lost 6-5.
Again, this is a newly formed team, and I am sure that with more practise, and once they get used to working as a team, the Rockets will be a formidable force.
This week, EVERY player was player of the day - well done to all of you!
